I am a teacher, mother, wife, and semi-aspiring writer. I teach my students to keep a writer’s notebook so they can live the life of a writer. Over the past year, my belief in this practice has strengthened, as I have experienced its power firsthand.

I began this blog as a venue for my writing practice.  After reading many books on writing and improving your craft, I’ve rediscovered the power of a simple notebook.  So, my use of this blog has been modified.  I write daily in spirals and/or composition notebooks.  On occasion, I feel compelled to share a selection, a smattering of practice writes, or simply thoughts about my journey.  This blog is where I come.

Here, I hope to connect with fellow struggling authors.  I also, though, hope to hear from potential readers.  One perspective on becoming an author is moving away from writing for yourself and towards writing for your audience.  With that in mind, perhaps this is my “focus group”.

If you like what you read, come back.  Read more.  Leave comments.

If you have questions or requests, please ask.  I love to share and can’t wait to hear from readers!

And, always, thank you for reading!

"There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein."

"So it is very deep to be a writer. It is the deepest thing I know. And I think, if not this, nothing -- it will be my way in the world for the rest of my life. I have to remember this again and again."
